Terrorist attack in Pahalgam, an incident that tarnishes humanity – Chandan Pal

Sarva Seva Sangh (All India Sarvodaya Mandal) President Chandan Pal expressed deep grief over the heinous killing of innocent people in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and called it an incident that tarnishes humanity. He said that killing common people for religion, nation or any other reason cannot be accepted. The tendency of violence is increasing all over the world and in India, which is a matter of concern. Terrorism has become a diplomatic tactic for many countries. Such countries provide protection, shelter and resources to terrorists, which is absolutely wrong. Many agencies, one of our neighbouring countries, are engaged in this work, which needs to be identified and isolated. Terrorism is not only an ideology but arms manufacturing companies are also directly involved in it. The business interests of these companies and the countries that patronize them are linked to these activities. Identifying the weapons recovered from terrorists and putting pressure on the concerned governments should be a part of the global policy against terrorism.

After the Pahalgam incident, there is an attempt to spread communal frenzy in the entire country and pressure is being exerted to implement the tit for tat principle. Giving a communal colour to the Pahalgam incident is like playing into the hands of terrorists. By doing this, we contribute to the achievement of the terrorists’ goal. Anyway, it is short-sightedness to respond to violence with violence or war. At such a time, we have to strengthen our resolve to build a peaceful global society.

We need to pay special attention to our internal defense. The Pahalgam incident also highlights the failure of our intelligence system. Not only this, the government’s claim of ending terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir by demonetization in 2016 is also proving to be hollow. A similar claim was made while abolishing Section 370, which protected the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, which is proving to be meaningless.

The President of Sarva Seva Sangh said that today there is a need to move forward in the direction of creating a non-violent society in the country and the world. We cannot respond to violence, terror and war in the same way. Doing so would be like pushing humanity into a deep abyss. We, walking on the path of non-violence, make a global appeal to create a world free of violence, terror, weapons and war.
