Today marks the 52nd day of the satyagraha dedicated to preserving Gandhi’s legacy. So far, people from Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh have joined this satyagraha. From today until November 5, Sarvodaya colleagues from various districts in Andhra Pradesh will participate. The group from Andhra Pradesh includes N. Rambabu Naidu, Datta Mani, G. Ravi Kumar, Dr. D. Dinbandhu, G. Pradeep Kumar, V. Lata, N. S. Kiran, and G. Shiva Parvati.
RSS and BJP Thrive on Lies and Rumors
It is well known that Sarva Seva Sangh purchased 12.89 acres of land from Northern Railway through three separate sale deeds in 1960, 1961, and 1970. Despite this fact, the government, Varanasi administration, Railway, RSS, and BJP are spreading various lies. Sometimes they claim Sarva Seva Sangh has an illegal encroachment, sometimes they say it was rented out, and at other times, that it was leased. They have made lies and rumors their culture.
Rambabu Naidu Observes Fast to Protect the Legacy
In an effort to protect this legacy, Sarva Seva Sangh initiated a 100-day national satyagraha called Nyay ke Deepak Jalaye (Light the Lamps of Justice) in front of the Rajghat campus on September 11 (Vinoba Jayanti). Sarvodaya workers, social activists, and citizens from all over the country are participating in this satyagraha. Today, Andhra Pradesh Sarvodaya Mandal President Rambabu Naidu is on a fast as part of the satyagraha. Hailing from West Godavari district, Rambabu Naidu has been in journalism since 1989. He initially worked in Telugu-language daily newspapers and later moved into electronic media. Currently, he is the CEO of Sneha Group’s news channel, which runs two popular channels, Sneha and Master. Inspired by Gandhian ideals, Rambabu Naidu contributes to society’s positive direction by connecting with Sarva Seva Sangh alongside his journalistic work.
An Assault on Democracy – Rambabu Naidu
While fasting at the satyagraha site, Rambabu Naidu said that bulldozing Sarva Seva Sangh is an assault on democracy. This action by the government is aimed at destroying Gandhian ideas and institutions. This is a heritage site, and it is the government’s responsibility to protect it. However, this was not done, which is why Gandhian activists from Andhra Pradesh are fasting in protest.
Ravi Kumar Gogu, President of West Godavari District Sarvodaya Mandal, has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, appealing for the immediate and respectful return of the campus and calling for a judicial inquiry into the entire matter to identify and punish the guilty officials.
Apart from today’s fasting participant, N. Rambabu Naidu, others present at the satyagraha included Sarva Seva Sangh President Chandan Pal, Alakh Bhai, Shakti Kumar, Shashi Kumar, Kanhaiya Ram, Mathura Singh, Anokhelal, Tarkeshwar Singh, Nandlal Master, Ishwar Chandra, Shahid Kamal, Bhupesh Bhushan, Rajesh Manav, Qazi Farid Alam, Ramdheeraj, Arvind Anjum, Anup Shramik, Avadhesh Kumar, Lali Kumari, and others.
